Some residents were participating in one of the latest sustainability trends by keeping backyard hens.
The Board of Trustees (BOT) had not clarified whether they were legal or not, until now.
To avoid people getting their feathers ruffled, the Board of Trustees approved Ordinance 694, amending the Town Municipal Code to permit the keeping of Chicken Hens and to require a permit for the same.

It was slightly tricky, depending on whether you define a hen as a pet, or as livestock, and it effected chapters 6, 7, and 16 of the municipal code. You might say, our eggs weren't all in one basket.
