I really enjoyed giving this presentation at VegFest Colorado 2011.
The Zen of Compost – Incorporating the Circle of Life into Your Routine
It was the first year VegFest Colorado moved from Downtown Denver to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Golden, Colorado. Click here for the summary promotion.
I have been using this method in the Nederland Area for 14 years without any problems from wildlife, and this process does not require adding water, which is typically needed in our arid climate.
This method has reduced our waste stream dramatically and created some really great soil for our garden.

Joe Gierlach – The Zen of Compost
Joe Gierlach's net-zero, eco-friendly home and greenhouse has been featured in Conservation Magazine and widely toured by environmental enthusiasts regionally. Joe has been interviewed on public radio for his views on vegetarianism, and his sustainability efforts have been highlighted in newspapers as far away as the Middle East.
As a Certified Master Composter for the Boulder County Center for Resource Conservation, Joe Gierlach has been astounding audiences with his composting demonstrations and lectures for over a decade.
In this appearance, Joe will present an entertaining approach to composting with real-world practical skills that you can employ in your own home.
Joe has waived his speaking fee especially for the Vegetarian Society of Colorado for this one time only engagement. “The Zen of Compost” is one presentation not to be missed.
I encourage anyone to give composting a try, to gain a connection, or awareness, to your own waste stream. Then see what is not compostable or recyclable, and figure out what habits/products contribute to landfills.
