Happy Pi Day!
I sat-in on the most recent meeting of the Nederland Downtown Development Authority (NDDA) to discuss the project schedule for NedPeds, which is the nickname for the pedestrian pathway and drainage project on Second Street.
We call it NedPeds because the more official name is the “Nederland Pedestrian Enhancement Design, Nederland Pedestrian Transportation, and Storm Water Management Improvement Project”, and nobody was inclined to reduce it down to its acronym: NPEDNPTASWMIP.
Regardless of the name, the project is intended to make improvements to our non-motorized transportation system and address issues in the town’s storm water management system.
The Nederland DDA has established a schedule to follow for the implementation of the plan, and is projected to begin construction in Summer 2014. Click here for detailed updates of the NedPeds plan and schedule.
For the past year, there has been plenty of input and analysis by the citizen Design Advisory Team (DAT), the Nederland DDA, Town Staff, and our Town Advisory Boards. The DDA decided to extend the timeframe a bit, to give residents additional opportunities this spring for public input, as the DDA shepherds the project through the Nederland Planning Process (NPP).
I extend my thanks to all the volunteers who have put countless hours of thoughtful effort into the design of this project so far, and look forward to a project plan the community can be proud of.
Maybe it's because I once paused a Board of Trustees meeting into recess, to preview this video in the Community Center Auditorium, but it makes me think of this locally made Elephant Revival Video:
[Here is a Video Valediction] This is an official music video Go On by Elephant Revival, Film by Anna Cosper. [What is a Video Valediction?]
