The Climb will have a second bus route, in addition to the existing Gold Hill Climb, called the 'Peak to Peak Climb'. The Peak to Peak Climb only runs on Thursdays and goes from Rollinsville to Ward, along the Peak to Peak Highway, with service in Nederland in the middle.
You can check-out this service for FREE! For its inaugural first month, (from February 13th – March 6th) you are invited to ride the Peak to Peak Climb for FREE, check-out the bus, 'kick the tires', and see how this service might fit into your schedule.
All the final details have been ironed-out. I rode on the test run, signs are being installed, and the details are now available on The Climb website (http://the-climb.org/). You can click on the flyer and schedule below to get a closer look.
Gilpin County had been looking for alternative funding sources ever since the recession caused the former BOCC to cancel the Gilpin Connector. The idea of bringing back the Gilpin County Connector Bus was brought forward in the Nederland Mayor's Task Force on Housing and Human Services, with the intention to provide transportation for folks that need to access to services in Nederland. It became a collaborative effort between Gilpin County, Boulder County Transportation, Foothills United Way, and Via Mobility Services.
Why Thursday? – It aligns with the Nederland Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, and other social services offered at the Nederland Community Center on Thursdays.
Drivers? – If you are interested in becoming a driver, contact by email: Jim Trahan or call (303) 447-2828 Ext. 1045 with any questions. Perhaps more importantly, Via Mobility is looking for mountain drivers as part of their "Friends and Family" driver program to provide rides for Wednesday riders. Friends and Family drivers use their own vehicle and are reimbursed by Via Mobility at $0.50 per mile, up to $55/month. If you know of someone in the Greater Nederland Area who might be interested in becoming a Friends & Family driver, please have them give Bob D'Alessandro a call at (303) 447-2848 Ext. 1056.
Boulder County CareConnect is also looking for drivers for their Medical Mobility program, which is similar to Via Mobility's Friends and Family program. You can volunteer to be a driver by clicking on this information form.

[Here is a Video Valediction] The Climb bus is quite a bit larger than this van and more spacious for mobile concerts, but this is San Francisco group, Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers covering Stealers Wheel (Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty) with Stuck In The Middle With You.
